Equine Services

The strong equine focus of the nationally-recognized equestrian science program at William Woods University in Fulton provides the educational and technological support to attract companies focused on the equine industry. William Woods was the first university in the nation to offer four-year degree programs in equine science and equine administration. These programs address all aspects of the equine industry from health and nutrition to entrepreneurship.

Complementing the equine expertise at William Woods are the resources of the University of Missouri’s College of Veterinary Medicine. It is one of only five veterinary medicine schools in the states contiguous to Missouri and one of only 27 in the entire United States. In addition, its full-service veterinary diagnostic center is the only such facility in Missouri and one of only 37 in the country accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians. Together, the Colleges of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the agricultural extension service provide the mid-Missouri region with the research expertise for animal sciences-based life sciences.

Callaway County is home to Merial’s Missouri Research Center and Sinclair Research Center, two leading animal science facilities that are dedicated to the research and development of innovations in health, nutrition, production and management.
